He also added that they are "excited to be expanding Billboards globally recognized Hot 100 chart franchise into this country, and look forward to enhancing the K-Pop Hot 100 chart in the near future with additional data as well as creating new charts that showcase the breadth of Korean music." The first number-one song on the chart was "So Cool" by Sistar on the issue dated September 3, 2011. The charts current number-one song is "Start" by Gaho. The chart stopped being published in the United States by Billboard beginning with the issue dated May 17, 2014, and the Korean version of the chart was subsequently discontinued beginning with the July 16, 2014, issue date. On the issue dated May 29 – June 4, 2017, the chart was re-established, and announced by Billboard on December 20, 2017, along with the relaunch of an online Billboard Korea at Billboard.co.kr that would include the charts weekly updates, as well as at the Billboard.com site.

It also featured interviews with celebrities who work for the station, and behind-the-scenes peeks at the stations studio complex. In addition, K-100 also announced the stations top-five shows over the previous week in terms of viewership during the "Viewership Ratings" segment. The name "K-100" originated from the stations previous post office box number, with the "K-" prefix indicating that the box was located in Kowloon. The stations PO box was re-numbered to "70100" following the postal services consolidation of its PO boxes, but the programmes name stuck. The program debuted on January 22, 1977, and ran almost every week until September 17, 2005, when it was replaced by another show called "E-Buzz". 1.449 episodes of K-100 had been taped since its inception.
